Naupoto: New RFMF Unit Ready For Any Emergency

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces had learned a lot from Tropical Cyclone Winston, says Commander Rear-Admiral Viliame Naupoto.
He thanked their international partners, especially New Zealand and Australia, for their quick response.
He was closing the 2017 Pacific Resilience Disaster Response & Exchange Exercise at Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva.
He said after TC Winston they had now formed a Special Infantry Battalion to be ready for immediate response during an emergency.
This battalion, he said, had doctors, nurses and engineers.
Those in the new battalion he said had special skills and would be ready for action whenever they were called.
“I must admit that we’re now ready for any disaster,” he said.
