Good start for the Fiji Airways Drua team in the first round of the Australia National Rugby Championship.

Losing by nine points in the 36-45 defeat to the strong Brisbane City is a good indicator as they prepare for their next match against Melbourne Rising this Saturday.

Here is how we rate our players:

  1. Joeli Veitayaki – Played well on defence but was unable to lift work rate upfront – 3.5
  2. Samu Suguturaga- Causing a lot of turnovers for misfiring in his throws in the lineouts- 3
  3. Kalivati Tawake- Strong upfront but weak in the breakdown and was sin-binned- 3
  4. Peni Naulago- Failed to fire, flat performance- 2.5
  5. Apisai Tauyavuca- Good in defence but failed to click in the lineouts-3

6 Vasikali Mudu- Always hungry to win turnovers but sin-binned-4.5

  1. Mosese Voka- Good speed and strength making line breaks, scored Fiji’s third try- 6
  2. Sakiusa Nadruku- Worked overtime, good ball carrying ability and matched the experienced Brisbane City pack- 7
  3. Frank Lomani- Played a good attacking game and confident throughout- 6.5
  4. Kini Douglas- Need to control play under pressure and worked on his defence, good vision- 5
  5. Apete Daveta- Played well in defence but failed in finishing- 3
  6. Eroni Vasiteri- Firm and had a strong determination in midfield making line break and setting up Fiji’s second try- 7
  7. John Stewart- Led by example, good defensive and aggressive game- 6.5
  8. Aporosa Tabulawaki- Played well in defence but failed in finishing area- 4
  9. Peceli Nacebe- Devastating in attack scoring two tries- 7.5
  10. Ratunaisa Nauma- Good impact replacing Suguturaga, aggressive in the breakdown- 5.5
  11. Eroni Mawi- Showed determination in defence played well in the scrum- 5.5
  12. Samu Saqiwa- Good speed and ruthless in defence- 5
  13. Mosese Ducivaki- Played well, linking up on attack- 4.5
  14. Peni Raidre- Good pace and played well- 4
  15. Seru Cavuilati- Displayed good pace, great finisher scoring Fiji’s fifth try- 3.5
  16. Eroni Sau- Had the speed, ability, vision scoring Fiji’s fourth try- 5. Edited by Osea Bola
