Valebasoga won the best dressed team prize in the opening day of the Carpenters Finance Labasa Sanatan tournament yesterday.

Valebasoga vice-captain Ravinesh Singh said winning the award was special.

“We have been playing for 25 years and winning the first award is a great boost and I would like to thank our sponsor Valebasoga Tropik Woods for supporting us,” Singh said.

“We are a team of 25 players all from Valebasoga training under coach Shavneel Prasad.

“Most of players are tertiary students and we’ve never won this tournament.”

Singh is confident of winning more awards in the nine-day tournament.

Meanwhile, tournament chairman Mor Singh said officials will select the best player and manager every day.

He pleaded for the 36 teams to maintain discipline on and off the field.

“We must follow the rules at all times as no one is above the law,” he said.

“We already suspended two people in the past for three years and that must be a lesson to all.”
