Sam Lee Finishes 3rd In Vanuatu

Fijian professional golfer Sam Lee shot a three under par 69 to settle for 3rd spot at the 33rd Vanuatu Open at the Port Vila Golf and Country Club yesterday. Andrew Campbell won and Brad McIntosh came second.

Lee scored a total of 277 (66, 69, 73, 69) with Peter Martin and DJ Loypur of Australia.

Campbell amassed a total of 275 and McIntosh 276 to finish top over 35 professionals.

Lee received $2795 for his effort.

“On Saturday I shot one over par 73 and I got a bit nervous in the first couple of holes because I haven’t been in a final group much but I handled it well,” he said.

“Unfortunately I didn’t get to make many birdies that day. I had one birdie and two bogeys. I did go out and tried again and it did work for me today as I shot 69! But that is all golf is about.”

The other Fijian pro Amitesh Chandra who is based at Laucala Island slipped to the 23rd spot for (+14), 302 (72, 77, 77, 76). He collected AU$524.67.

Meanwhile, the Vanuatu Golf Open is sanctioned on the PGA Ladbrokes Pro-Am circuit with professionals competing for AU$50,000.
