Eastern Police netball team retained the Mrs Commissioner Cup Challenge for the fifth consecutive year.

The team beat Northern Police (Vualiku) in extra time 23-21 during the opening day of the Fiji Police Women’s Inter-formation Tournament at Holy Family Primary School in Labasa yesterday.

Eastern Police team coach Savenaca Vunivesilevu said they were confident of retaining the title.

“We would like to dedicate this win to all the policemen in the Eastern division” Vunivesilevu said.

“The 10 players are selected from Korovou, Nausori, Levuka, Nakasi and Vunidawa stations.

“I would like to thank all the players for their dedication and teamwork.”

Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea opened the two-day tournament.

“This tournament commenced in 2003 at Navosa and has gained popularity over the years,” Vocea said.

This is also an opportunity for our women to represent Police in the annual Sukuna Bowl.
