Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum visited Naluwai, Naitasiri, for the first time yesterday.

The Attorney-General and Minister for Economy was the chief guest at the 2017 Fiji Bitter Disavu 7s tournament at the Naitasiri Provincial Secondary School.

“I was very humbled by the invitation and this is my first time to come to this part of Naitasiri,” Sayed-Khaiyum said

“The Government is very much focused on ensuring rural development enabling people to get access to water, electricity, education and also includes the provision of sporting facilities.

“So it is very important for us as a nation and Government to ensure that we provide the facilities to our youth which is not only connecting to sporting facilities but also jobs and providing economic opportunities for them.”

Meanwhile, tournament organiser Ledua Atago said the three-day tournament was a success.

He said the tournament was to fundraise for the construction of a multi-purpose court at the Naivucini District School.

“The tournament is for the development of the young players of Naivucini.”
