Tovata won the Carpenters Finance Labasa Sanatan Tournament at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.

The team sponsored by Wananavu Waves edged MY Logistics Bulileka 1-0 in the final with goal scored by Labasa rep Anish Khem in the 45th minute.

Tovata team manager Kamlesh Chand said it was the first time for the team to win the tournament.

“We took part after 10 years and we won it,” Chand said.

“ I’m grateful to Khem and Ashneel Raju of Dreketi for forming the team and encouraging the village boys to play.

“We also thank our sponsor Shaneel Prasad and coach Dewan Chand for their support.

“We dedicate this win to all the players, their families and people of Tovata,

“We were consistent throughout the nine-day tournament and no goals was scored against us.”
