Raka 7s tournament organisers received $35,000 for the men’s Cup competition from sponsor Huawei yesterday.

Sanctioned by the Fiji Rugby Union, the two-day tournament will be held on November 24-25 at the ANZ Stadium.

Huawei accounts manager, Semi Dalituicama said this was their first ever major sponsorship in Fiji.

“We are proud to say that we are extremely happy to be the men’s Cup competition sponsor,” Dalituicama said.

“This also marks the first major sponsorship in Fiji and we are glad to find an event where we could offer our help.

“To enrich lives through communication is one of Huawei’s visions as we believe it’s our corporate social responsibility to support the Raka 7s tournament.

“As it not only ties the greatest love of this country but most importantly utilizing this tournament as a place to advocate the awareness of plastics as an increasing environmental threat to our nation and future.

“We proud to sponsor the 2017 Raka 7s tournament as it is the bringing of what we believe will be a long and fruitful relationship between both parties.”

Raka 7s tournament director Ropate Kauvesi applauded the assistance.

“I would like to thank the Huawei team for believing in this tournament and what it stands for and the goals that we are trying to achieve,” Kauvesi said.

“We believe that it’s just the beginning of long and fruitful relationship.”

Meanwhile, the men’s Cup winner will get $25,000 while the runners-up will walk away with $5,000.
