A 44-year-old man had his trial vacated due to his medical conditions yesterday.
Adhi Narayan Naidu could not appear in court but had sent a medical certificate with instructions to his defence counsel Namrita Mishra informing her that he is bedridden.
Ms Mishra informed Justice Thushara Rajasinghe that Naidu was unable to move.
Justice Rajasinghe further informed the counsel that the medical certificate does not show any specific details of the illness and further suggested confirming with Naidu whether the trial can commence through Skype.
It is alleged that Naidu on June 25, 2015 had raped a 28-year-old woman.
The state was represented by Eoghan Samisoni.
The case will be called later today.
