Alleged Robbers Appear In Court

Two men alleged to have broken into the office of Suva lawyer Jitendra Reddy were produced at the Nasinu Magistrates Court last Friday.
Eighteen-year-old Suliano Wainivanua and 23 year-old Viliame Baleiwai are charged with a count each of aggravated burglary and theft.
On the aggravated burglary count the duo are alleged to have entered Mr Reddy’s office between August 30 and 31 this year as trespassers with intention to steal.
On the theft count they allegedly stole 7 Lenovo laptops valued at $7000, a Lenox portable DVD player valued at $279, 4 USB’s valued at $60 and $3000 cash all to the total value of $10,339.
Police Prosecutor Sergeant Joseph Dickson made an application for the case to be transferred to the High Court.
Further he indicated to the court that prosecution is objecting to the duo’s bail because the case is of public interest and it is an indictable offence.
Full disclosures were served to the two men by Prosecutor Dickson.
Moreover they requested for Legal Aid representation in court.
The case has been adjourned to September 22 for first call in the Suva High Court.
They have been further remanded in custody awaiting bail.
