People Living Side By Side, Politics Dividing Them Says Narube

People are not the problem, it is politics that have divided us. So says Unity Fiji Party leader Savenaca Narube.
The former Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji, Mr Narube made the comment following their recent Northern Division visit.
“We had a very successful first visit to the North. It reaffirms our belief that the people are not the problem. They live side by side in harmony and goodwill. It’s politics that have divided us,” Mr Narube said.
The newly formed party was in the north from August 30 to September 2nd.
Party officials met with people from all ethnic groups and spoke to students, shopkeepers, cane farmers, business people and villagers of Bua, Savusavu and Labasa.
They thanked party members for their continuous support and gathered a total of 2200 memberships out of the 1000 members required from the North.
Mr Narube said the aim of their visit was to reach out to ordinary citizens.
“We have heard the voice of the people and we will take these into account in preparing our manifesto. We will go back to the North when the manifesto is ready,” he said
The visiting delegation also included Party President Adi Sivia Qoro and General Secretary Satish Kumar.
Meanwhile the party is hosting a dinner next week Friday, September 23 at the Yue Lai Hotel in Flagstaff, Suva to officially launch their party.
Prior to the launch the party will visit areas within the Central Division starting on Monday September 18.
