Taumoepeau Returns To The Ring

In a thriller, heavyweight boxer Napoleon Taumoepeau has signed up to face upcoming Viliame Taginikoro in the main supporting bout of the Canada Fiji Southern Boxing Promotions on Friday, October 13.

This was confirmed yesterday by promoter Simon Naushad who indicated that the fight is going to be a thriller.

“This promotion will be known as the Interdistrict Rumble Night because we’ve signed up boxers from around the country,” he said.

“The fight is on Friday, October 13, which is the rest day of the Interdistrict football championship.”

Taumoepeau last fought in 2015 and has been training amateur boxing star Winston Hill. Taginikoro who hails from Bukuya in Ba has been impressive after knocking out Sefanaia Vakacegu in the first round.

The hard hitting Taganikoro comes from a boxing background where his village has produced top boxers like Jone Katonivere and former Fiji heavyweight champion Silovate Junior.

The main bout will be the super welterweight 10-round clash between Jese Ravudi and the unbeaten Siliveni Nawai. The promotion will be staged at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
