CPA AUSTRALIA-FIJI BRANCH 2017 CONGRESS FNU To Offer CPA Course In 2018

From next year the Fiji National University will offer the full CPA Course through a Masters in Professional Accounting Programme.

This was said by CPA Fiji President Udey Sen yesterday at the annual CPA Australia-Fiji Branch 2017 Congress which ends today.

He said it is part of the CPA initiatives to support national universities.

Mr Sen said: “We have ongoing work with the Ministry of Education.

“Experts from Australia are doing a bench marking exercise of Fiji Form 6 and Form 7 (Year 12 and Year 13 ) accounting curriculum, with similar years in Australia.

“Once the results are out, it will give us great opportunity to consider full realignment with the Australian curriculum.”

CPA Fiji also has arrangement in place to recognise excellence at all three major universities in Fiji and the secondary schools, Mr Sen said.

Acting Prime Minister, Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum will address the congress today.

CPA Fiji branch member growth

Mr Sen also commented on the significant growth of the CPA Fiji branch over the last 10 years.

“From the humble beginning we now have just fewer than 500 members in Fiji.

“Our Fiji members are part of the global brand.”

With the theme Connecting the Biggest Minds, he said the two-day congress is provided with good line-up of speakers with extensive experience in their areas.

“We certainly hope that you will find presentations very useful,” he said.

Mr Sen thanked his council members, and the sponsors for their support and he urged the delegates to make the most of the opportunities as the platform will give them a lot to learn and take back.
