Re-elected Labasa Campus University of the South Pacific Students Association president  Angylishna Asha aims to take the association to a new level.

“We hope to better utilise income generated from our general service fee by organising social, religious and academic events,” Ms Asha said.

“Our spiritual growth, social interaction and academic involvement need to go hand in hand,” she said.

“We just need to be better organised, we must draw from every activity we take part in.”

The 25-year-old, originally from Korotari, Labasa, is a third year student pursuing Bachelor of Education double major in literature language and geography.

“I’m glad to be re-elected as president as I will get the opportunity to get positive changes in the campus,” Miss Asha said.

The students’ association has a committee of nine which includes the vice president, treasurer, secretary, iTaukei rep, Rabi rep, social and sports coordinator, academic coordinator, and Ind-Fijian Student Association co-ordinator.

“We also planned to help them grow physically, through organisation of sporting teams,” she said.

The Labasa campus director Samuela Bogitini has been the backbone of the student association and is the man behind the show.

“Mr Bogitini is our role model, the motivator and supporter of the association,” she said.

“Now Labasa campus is growing and we are participating in other activities such as the Students Leaders Forum organised by the Laucala campus whereby the student’s leaders and students from all other institutes are invited to take part.

“This is a learning platform for students and future leaders to know more about the roles of leadership.”
