Nacanieli Saumi strongly believes faith, discipline and commitment conquer challenges in all facets of life.

The Ratu Kadavulevu School rugby coaching director made the comment at Lodoni yesterday.

Students, parents, old scholars gathered at Delainakaikai to celebrate a unique success after the Tailevu school made a rare scoop winning all the six grades in the 2017 Coke Zero Deans Trophy competition last month.

“I took up coaching at RKS in 2014 and we devised a three-year development plan.

“In 2016 we won one trophy and I reminded the players that we had to come back stronger this year,” Saumi said.

“I told them to have faith and believe. This is one thing that we intend to forget. We have to believe in ourselves and each other and commit to the task.

Another area that may surprise many was the discipline in all the teams.

“Indiscipline was an area that always let the school down in the past and we managed to fix that.

“I always remind coaches in RKS to be professional in their style of coaching as it will rub on to the students.

“I’m happy I have achieved my aim as this is my final year at RKS.”
