Our Fiji Airways Drua rugby put their bodies on the line as they took on the big NSW Country Eagles forwards at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka yesterday.

Their gutsy performance saw them come out with a 31-14 win over the Eagles.

Here is how we rate our players?

  1. Joeli Veitayaki: Strong in defence – 8
  2. Ratunaisa Navuma: Tackled hard throughout, always in the thick of things – 8
  3. Kalivati Tawake: Was a tower of strength in defending the mauls from the bigger Eagles forwards – 8
  4. Sakiusa Nadruku: Put his body on the line and showed his athletic ability – 9.
  5. Samuela Saqiwa: Read the game well, a smart player, hard worker during the breakdowns – 9.
  6. Filimoni Seru: Put on a powerful display and quick to the breakdowns – 8
  7. Mosese Voka: Played a captain’s game. He was almost in every phase of play and urged players to fight on to the end – 10.
  8. Peni Raidre: Tireless in the breakdowns and pressured the opposition into mistakes – 8.
  9. Frank Lomani: Scored two tries after being at the end of some thrilling Fijian rugby but at times probably needs to move the ball faster from rucks to keep the backline on attack – 8.
  10. Peceli Nacebe: Injured early in the game and had to be replaced – 3.
  11. Apete Daveta: A powerful finisher, strong in defence and a star in the making – 9.
  12. Eroni Vasiteri: Led by example with bone crunching tackles and strong runs – 9.
  13. Ifereimi Tovilevu: Exciting player who caused a lot of headaches on the Eagles defence – 8.
  14. Eroni Sau: Strong running winger and powerful in defence. His only sin was copping a yellow card for tackling a player in the air – 7.
  15. Apisalome Waqatabu: Good goal kicker, shines better when he joins in the attack – 9.

Substitute

Kini Douglas: (7) Played well as he picked up from where Nacebe left off
