Veiuto start search for new talents

Over 700 students of Veiuto Primary School participated in their Inter-Class Athletics competition at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.
This is to identify students to represent the school at the upcoming FMF Chow Games where they’re the defending girl’s champions.
The prominent Suva school suffered a setback when head coach Owen Ratumaikoro was transferred at the start of the third term.
Athletics coordinator, Wise Namosimalua said there is an improvement shown in terms of performance.
“In our school we don’t have inter-house but we have interclass where students compete in their separate grades and that is from under-9 to14,” Namosimalua said.
“The main reason for hosting this competition is to select athletes who record the best times that qualify them for the Suva Zone athletics meet. This year we created something new by including the participation of classes 1, 2 and 3 students.
“Again our performance has improved compared to last year because the children have been going through three weeks of training before today’s meet.” Namosimalua said they’ve three weeks to prepare for the zone meet and the students are in high spirits to deliver their best.
“We’re looking at fielding 120 athletes in the Suva zone competition. We would like to thank parents, guardians, teachers and the school management for their continuous support in making this interclass athletics competition a success.”
