Many Register For Free Medicine, Hospital Cards, Health Checks

The Ministry of Health and Medicine Services tallied 336 registrations at the Nausori Market during the first day of Government’s free medicine registration programme around Fiji.
Apart from free medicine registration, the public can also have their hospital cards done; undergo diabetes and hypertension checks and registration.
Epeli Gonevakarua, 60, of Lau residing in Makoi, Nasinu was grateful to Government as the programme had assisted him and other Fijians in having their health needs met at the Bhanabhai Health Centre, Makoi, yesterday.
“My source of income is not much to cater for everything at home along with my medicine. That is why I came today to register for the free medicine programme, a much appreciated assistance from the Government,” he said.
Likewise, Sushila Wati, 53, of Makoi, Nasinu said the free medicine programme will help her get her medicines faster and free.
“I am a diabetic patient and medicines can be very expensive for some low income earners like us; I am thankful to Government for catering our needs,” Ms Wati said.
To be eligible for the programme your income must be less than $20,000 per annum. You must have a valid social welfare membership number issued by the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation.
For registration you must provide a valid photo ID (Passport, Drivers Licence/Voter ID), Tax Identification Number and proof of annual income which may include (pay slip, pension slip or signed statutory declaration).
The registration drive will be at Nadi Market tomorrow and the Sigatoka Market on Friday.
Registration ends on Friday, October 6, 2017.
