Neighbour Reports About Plant Believed to be Marijuana

A 47-year-old Nawaka shopkeeper in Nadi is living in fear after she saw a plant believed to be marijuana in her neighbour’s compound while planting flowers in her garden on Monday.

Jahdeeba Bibi said she discovered the plant at around 3pm on Monday plants hidden in her neighbour’s dalo farm.

“In between the dalo plants there were eggplants and other vegetables which I think with the intention for no one to see them,” Ms Bibi said.

The mother of a two-year-old son said the discovery had put her family in a state of fear.

“I told my husband about the discovery. The plant was about three feet high and in a pot plant, there were other small ones hidden in the dalo farm,” she said.

Despite contacting the Police on Monday, there was no response until 12.30pm yesterday.

“I alerted my husband then we called the police in Nadi, Lautoka and even in Suva to inform them about the discovery, but there was no response from them.  I noticed the Police vehicle at our place; they just came and left without doing anything,” she said.

“I was so scared, on Monday night. My husband and I couldn’t sleep peacefully because we were so scared knowing that the plants were just a few metres away from our house.”

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that officers found a pot plant on the suspect’s compound and were investigating.
