More than 20 families in Caubati, Nasinu, are currently without water because of a burst water pipe, which happened yesterday morning.

Resident Shaz Mohammed said the water pipes have been bursting repeatedly, but the Water Authority of Fiji has not been able to fix the problem.

“This is the third time the water pipes have burst. Last week was the latest one when we had raised numerous complaints to the water authority.

“As far as we know, the water authority had joined the pipes as a temporary solution and it burst again this morning around 1.30 am.

“After we complained today, we are told by the authority to wait for 48 hours for the pipes to be fixed,” Mr Mohammed said.

Mr Mohammed, who is a plumber by profession, also questioned the WAF if workers were qualified for the job.

Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Vijay Nath said he had to organise for the water carts for the residents in the area yesterday.

The Water Authority of Fiji have yet to responded to questions sent yesterday.
