The annual Fijian University Association Games starts today and ends on Saturday at the University of the South Pacific and Fiji Sports Council facilities.

The FUSA Games has grown after its inception in 2008/2009 and the interest from other institutions has also grown from year to year.

Teams taking part this year are Fiji National University (Suva campus), FNU (Lautoka campus), FNU (Labasa campus), USP (Suva), USP (Lautoka), USP (Labasa), APTC,  University of Fiji (Suva), UOF (Saweni) and Corpus Christi Teachers College.

“We have an increase in participation this year which shows the popularity and importance in developing students at tertiary level,”FUSA Games president Alifereti Cawanibuka said.

“We had 104 sports teams last year and this year we have 123 teams which are encouraging.

“The FUSA executive committee has been organizing these games over the years and through trial and error managed to improve on the standards of officiating to match with the level of skills and development we have in these students at tertiary level.”
