Timoci Serevi ruling date set

A bail ruling has been set for Timoci Serevi who is charged with a count each of attempted robbery and rape.

The matter was heard before Justice Riyaaz Hamza at the High Court in Suva yesterday.

State lawyer Moumita Chowdhury told the court that the State would not be objecting to bail.

It is alleged that between June 17 and June 18, this year, Serevi had attempted to rob a person of a handbag valued at $35 and allegedly raped another person.

Serevi is represented by defence lawyer Tobia Ravuniwa.

Vuetiverata’s matter remitted to Magistrates Court

A man charged with a count each of aggravated burglary and theft had his matter remitted to the Nasinu Magistrates Court yesterday.

Saimone Vuetiverata had earlier appeared before Justice Riyaaz Hamza at the High Court in Suva.

State lawyer Moumita Chowdhury applied for the matter to be remitted as the alleged amount stolen was less.

It is alleged that Vuetiverata had stolen cash and assorted items to the total value of $2414.

Vuetiverata has also sought for Legal Aid assistance.

The case been adjourned to September 28, for mention before the Nasinu Magistrates Court.

Trial date set for alleged murder

A trial date has been set from March 5 to March 16, 2018 for four men charged with the murder of Sitiveni Qali.

Alipate Naimoso, Saimone Tucila Senior, Epeli Tucila and Saimone Tucila Junior appeared before Justice Riyaaz Hamza.

The matter was called at the High Court in Suva yesterday.

State counsel Lavenia Bogitini told the court that the State would rely on the caution interview statement.

Naimoso, Tucila Senior and Junior are represented by Vani Filipe, while Tucila is represented by Talei Kean.

The alleged incident happened sometime in February last year at a Nakasi Service Station.

The case has been adjourned to January 29, 2018, for mention.
