Virtual Reality (VR) is no longer some distant, experimental technology.

It’s here, and it’s transforming the way the world is entertained.

This is the first of its kind in Fiji and Vodafone Fiji is proud to bring this to its customers to experience virtual reality.

“We have yet another first for the country which is the Samsung Gear VR 4D System which you can experience with the assistance of the team,” Vodafone chief marketing officer Rajnesh Prasad said.

“Bigger things are definitely going to happen! I acknowledge our partners and dealers in channeling our products and our customers for their never-ending trust in making Vodafone the leader in mobile communications in Fiji,” he said.

Meanwhile Mr Prasad said the Samsung Gear VR 4D System is not for sale. Vodafone customers will soon have a chance to experience the gear for free at two of their retail outlets.

Using the Samsung Gear VR is an engrossing experience as it is, but Samsung has upped the ante with their 4D VR experience, which elevates virtual reality to a true multi-sensory adventure.

The VR experience zone is best described as a technological playground of sorts, outfitted with four types of 4D simulators that make VR more exciting and dynamic.

The key to 4D VR is a high-tech chair packed with a system of sensors and motion actuators.

The chair syncs with the VR game the user is playing, matching movements with in-game action.

These specialised 4D chairs that move in sync with the video helps create a realistic experience with participants able to look around instead of a movie screen in front.

The result is it transforms virtual reality into a full-body experience.

Vodafone Fiji in partnership with Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy NOTE8 and Samsung Gear VR 4D System on Thursday night at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
