Former sprint king Banuve Tabakaucoro is in the Fiji Barbarians 7s squad to play in the Oktoberfest 7s tournament in Munich, Germany from September 29-30.

In an all expenses paid trip, the Barbarians will face Australia, South Africa and England in the famous Olympic Stadium in Munch.

Vodafone Fijian 7s head coach, Gareth Baber said the event which is organised in partnership between the German Rugby Board (DRV) and World Rugby will be an opportunity to test out the new blood in the squad. That is to gauge their performance as build-up towards the 2017/18 World Sevens Series which kicks off in Dubai in December.

“It is good to be able to send a Fiji squad to such a competitive tournament,” Baber said.

FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor highlighted that our participation will allow the coach to see how the players adapt to international level and allows him to select the best team for the series.

The team depart today.
