Telecom Fiji Continues To Support Cancer Society

The Fiji Cancer Society received a donation of $2000 from staff of Telecom Fiji Limited during a morning tea event at the Contain Yourself Café in Suva.
Society board member Makrava Wilson conveyed his heartfelt thanks to Telecom Fiji Limited staff for the timely assistance.
“This will go a long way in supporting the fight against Cancer in Fiji,” Mr Wilson said.
“I know for sure our patients and survivors and their families, are always extremely grateful for the kindness and the type of support shown to us, by our donors every year.
“Cancer is responsible for 10 per cent of deaths in Fiji, and well over 1200 new cases are recorded annually.
“Our challenge is to reduce these numbers by vigorous awareness, encouraging screenings, and providing timely treatment and counselling.”
Mr Makrava said despite socio-economic status of race, gender, religion or creed; cancer did not discriminate.
“Lives are turned upside down, but there is a reason why we continue this fight at the Society and that is because of this feeling we call hope, hope we instil and share with our cancer patients and survivors alike,” he said.
Meanwhile Telecom Fiji Limited General Manager Corporate Services Samuela Vadei said TFL was proud to host the Fiji Cancer Society for the event.
“This is not the first time that TFL has gotten involved in this programme,” Mr Vadei said.
“We are not associated just because we are invited.
“We also have family members who have cancer and it’s also a reason why we assist the programme.”
