The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has clarified that the maternity services at the CWMH remain undisrupted and all services are operating normally.

The Ministry also clarifies that, contrary to false rumours and irresponsible reporting, there is no outbreak of fleas at CWMH.

Josefa Koroivueta, Acting Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services, is greatly concerned and disappointed over this and other misleading reports in the media, as it can result in the avoidance of proper medical care. As such, the Ministry is requesting sensitive and responsible reporting on this issue.

The CWMH has temporarily relocated its labour ward services to the birthing unit to accommodate for the cleaning of the delivery rooms, and continued cleaning will require some additional relocation over the course of the next two weeks. Contingency plans are in place to ensure that targeted objectives are completed accordingly during the temporary relocation.
