A mother of three was visibly happy yesterday after being acquitted at the Suva High Court of the charge of attempted murder.

Shahista Shewani Devi can finally be reunited with her kids after one year and seven months.

The mother of three was standing trial for the past six days accused of attempted murder of her four-year-old son Divyan and criminal intimidation against her mother-in-law, Madhur Lata.

Judge Justice Riyaaz Hamza after delivering his judgement told Ms Devi to take care of her children equally with her husband.

Justice Hamza also informed her that no matter what problems came her way, she was to make sure that no harm came to her children.

The alleged offence occurred on February 2, last year.

Devi was represented by defence counsel Abhay Singh and the state was represented by Saif Shah and Zenith Zunaid.
