Lomaiviti Princess IV Ready For Service

The MV Lomaiviti Princess IV will resume its normal Suva-Savusavu-Taveuni run after five months out of service.

This was after the vessel had prolonged its repairs while waiting on replacement parts to arrive into the country.

Goundar Shipping Limited managing director and owner George Goundar said the vessel had undergone maintenance at the government slipway.

And its replacement parts, that is the ship’s shaft and radar was bought from South Korea.

The estimated total cost the company spent to get the vessel back to operation is up to US$500,000 (FJ$1million).

“The vessel had its radar and shaft repaired and it has cost us a loss of revenue, but we still want to ensure safe services to the public.”

“The MV Lomaiviti Princess IV also had engine trials before being cleared to continue its services,” he added.

Normal services are expected to commence later this week.
