Ministry Assists Taxi Body In Moving Forward Towards Elections

The Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Permanent Secretary Salaseini Daunabuna who is also the Registrar of Industrial Associations held a meeting on Monday with the Fiji Taxi Association (FTA) and the Fijian Elections Office to discuss a way forward towards the Association’s Annual General Meeting and Elections.

Ms Daunabuna said the Ministry in consultation with the  Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem had a meeting with FTA interim executive members – Azeem Khan (Acting President), Mohammed Aslam Khan (Vice President) and Rishi Ram (General Secretary) to put together a way forward for the Association according to steps given in the Inquiry Report by Magistrate Andrew See to ensure a smooth AGM and Elections.

The Employment Ministry reaffirmed that it will be working closely with the Association to ensure that a proper Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election is conducted inclusive of district branch participation and within a defined Terms of Reference agreed to by all parties.
