Sen Reminds Drivers To Be More Cautious

Road users in Nadi should by now get used to the new road upgrades between Martintar to Nadi International Airport.
But if they continue to face difficulties on the new “world class road then they should slow down, heed the signals and watch out for speed signs and diversions,” says Fiji Roads Authority, acting chief executive, Robert Sen.
Evidently, since the roads have been upgraded to world standard and the new traffic lights installed, accidents have become common especially where the new traffic lights are.
Recently a truck driver had run into an oncoming vehicle after he had driven on a red light at the junction at Namaka Public School in Nadi.
This landed the driver of the other vehicle in the hospital in a serious condition on Sunday.
Mr Sen said it was important for road users to get used to new upgrades by adjusting to the newly upgraded road.
“The traffic lights are installed for the safety of the pedestrians and vehicle movements; yet drivers are over speeding on this newly constructed road,” Mr Sen said.
“Drivers need to slow down and follow the signals and adhere to speed signs and diversions properly,” he added.
Mr Sen confirmed that the Martintar service lanes and road upgrades were in progress.
Mr Sen said landscaping work was currently ongoing on completed sections and this corridor will be ready by March next year.
