Man On Drug Charge Seeks Legal Advice
A 48-year-old man charged for being found in possession of illicit drugs has sought Legal Aid assistance.
Rakesh Chand appeared before Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.
It is alleged that on August 18, this year at Nabua, Chand without lawful authority had in his possession 5.3 grammes of crystal methamphetamine, an illicit drug.
The state is represented by Police prosecutor Constable Praneel Prakash.
The case has been adjourned to November 28, for mention.

Case Transferred To Magistrates Court
Two men charged for aggravated robbery had their matter remitted to the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.
Sunia Roraqio and Lepani Matea appeared before judge, Justice Riyaaz Hamza at the Suva High Court.
Justice Hamza made the ruling after State lawyer Swastika Sharma made the application to remit the matter as the sum involved was $3092.
Roraqio requested the court that his matter not be called before Magistrate Waleen George as she was a state prosecutor in one of his previous cases.
He sought Legal Aid assistance.
He alleged that he was assaulted by Police officers at the Nabua Police Station.
The case has been adjourned to October 9 for mention.

State To Reconsider Charge
State lawyer Swastika Sharma has sought 14 days to reconsider a rape charge against Mikaele Masi.
Masi is charged with a count each of sexual assault and rape of a 9-year-old boy.
The plea was supposed to be taken at the Suva High Court yesterday.
However, it was deferred for the State to re-examine the charge.
The alleged incident occurred in March this year at Navua.
Bail has been extended for Masi.
The case has been adjourned to November 6, for mention.

Bail Extended For Nabua Rape Accused
An 18-year-old teenager, charged with two counts of sexual assault, four counts of rape and one count of assault causing actual bodily harm, had his bail further extended.
Maika Rokorauwa appeared before judge, Justice Riyaaz Hamza, at the Suva High Court yesterday.
Defence lawyer Vani Filipe sought further time to respond to the proposed agreed facts.
State lawyer Swastika Sharma informed the court that the only issue in the case was of consent.
It is alleged that Rokorauwa raped and sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl on May 2, this year at Nabua.
The case has been adjourned to October 12 for mention.
