The Fijian Pearls are settling well in Cardiff as they prepare to take on Scotland today.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Pearls head Coach Vicki Wilson said they had arrived in Cardiff after 48 hours of travelling.

“The biggest issue we had was getting access to our accommodation, as we arrived at the start of the Cardiff City Marathon and Fun Run where 25,000 people were participating in,” she said.

“The entire city was blocked off, so we had to get out of the bus and walk the last three kilometres.”

Wilson said the players suffered no effects of jet lag and trained strongly this week.

”Everyone is coping with the chilly autumn winds.

“Actually it’s quite nice to go outside for some fresh air.”

The Pearls played a practise match against the British Army yesterday.

“It was a great hit out with improvement in all aspects of our court structures.  I’m particularly pleased with our conversion of the balls we gained from the opposition.”

The Pearls will face Wales early Saturday morning (Fijian time) and then Northern Ireland before playing England in their final tour match.

“Our game preparation includes a 45 minute morning walk plus stretching and strapping takes place 2.5 hours prior to match time,” Wilson added.
