I’m ready to start my own family: Ravouvou
Olympian and Vodafone Fijian 7s playmaker Vatemo Ravouvou wedded Makereta Varo in Nadi yesterday.
The couple exchanged vows in front of family and friends
“It is great day, it has been awhile and finally we’re now married legally. I thank those at home for their support,” said Ravouvou.
“Finally I have a ring on my finger and this hows I am ready to start my own family.’’
The 27-year old believes he has more to unleash in the World Sevens Series.
“I’m looking forward to represent Fiji in the World Sevens Series which starts Dubai in December,” he said.
Ravouvou had known Makereta, 27, who is from Moala, Nadi since school days.
She said things got serious four years ago when Ravouvou returned from the USA 7s in Las Vegas.
“I’m his biggest fan and I will continue to support him in his rugby career.”
The Yasawa native shared how she met Makereta.
“It was during one wedding in Saunaka that I attended.”
The traditional wedding will be held later in the year.
In the World Sevens Series he has featured in 143 matches, scored 691 points, 57 tries, kicked 200 conversions, two penalties and even got eight yellow cards.
In the 2016/2017 season he played 40 matches, scored 149pts, averaging 3.72 per match, 13 tries scored, 42 conversion and three yellow cards.
He is in the Gareth Baber extended squad and is expected to join camp next week.
