An advocacy movement which is aimed at raising awareness in non-communicable diseases is continuing its support for Pinktober month.

Colour Explosion was yesterday at the Botanical Gardens in Lautoka to raise funds for the month hosting a tea event.

Colour Explosion president Paula Benn said: “Colour Explosion is about raising awareness on NCDs and cancer.

This is our last pitch stop for our NCD wellness rainbow that has been given by the Ministry of Health,” Ms Benn said.

“We hold a Pinktober morning tea specifically for the Fiji Cancer Society Western Support Group where all funds raised is handed to them.”

She said this was the second year the team had organised a Pinktober morning tea to support the Fiji Cancer Society Western Support Group.

“We will continue to support the Fiji Cancer Society in years to come,” she said.

“We have been working in collaboration with the Lautoka City Council, Ministry of Health and the Fiji Cancer Society.

“I thank the team at Colour Explosion for putting together this event in the park which is also something different.”

Fiji Cancer Society Western Support Group chairperson Laisa Tora also thanked those who attended.

“You are not alone and no one fights alone,” Ms Tora said.

“I thank the Western support group for doing an awesome job.”

A total of 60 people attended the event.
