Court Booked Until The End Of January, 2019
Lawyers at a Suva High Court heard yesterday that trial dates in judge, Justice Riyaaz Hamza’s court, were fully booked until the end of January 2019.
While adjourning a rape case Justice Hamza said the next available date would be at the end of January in 2019.
He made the comments while presiding over an alleged rape case against accused Paula Navukula.
Navukula is alleged to have raped a 25-year-old woman between May 29 and 30 this year at Navua.
State Prosecutor Lavenia Bogitini told Justice Hamza that the Prosecution would not be relying on Navukula’s caution interview because there were no admissions made.
Ms Bogitini also stated that the prosecution would be calling four witnesses in their line-up during the trial.
The case has been set for trial from January 28 till February 1, 2019.
Navukula was ordered to appear in court for mention on March 26 next year.
