Vodafone Fiji Bati full-back Kevin Naiqama looks forward to leading the side in today’s Tri Nations Series and then the Rugby League World Cup, which starts on October 27.

“To lead the Bati side is an honour and a privilege,” Naiqama said.

“Getting picked to be part of the side is the pinnacle of my career but to be selected as captain, I’m delighted.

“I know my work will be a lot easier having senior players around me.”

The 28-year-old strongly believes that making the country proud is their main objective.

“It will be an exciting journey for us, we all can be leaders, we’ve a very strong squad and we will not go into the RLWC to make up the numbers. We’re flying the flag and it’s not a burden but a privilege for all of us.”

The Wests Tigers winger aims to get his body shape right.

“I’m a real marker of myself, getting my body in the right shape I’m doing my own preparation and I’m on track,” he added.
