Musician Kicks Nadro To Victory

Striker Tomasi Tuicakau was the toast of the Nadroga football side after he scored the goals that beat Navua 2-1 to win the Courts Interdistrict Championship’s senior division title yesterday.
Tuicakau, a musician with the Powerpoint Band said it was worth all the effort of returning to the very district where he had started his football career.
“This is a very special tournament for me and I’m happy to score both goals in the final and win the Golden Boot Award,” he said.
“This win is for all the people of Nadroga and we will try our best to do well in the new season and return to the premier division.”
Tuicakau said winning the senior division title is a pleasant gift for coach Kaminieli Tuicakau who had turned 50 last week
Navua surprised Western fans when they took an early 1-0 lead through a Iliavi Katonitabua strike
The Stallions fought back in the second half and Tuicakau slammed in the equaliser in the 88th minute.
The former Fijian Under-20 and Suva rep again found the back of the net towards the end of the first spell of extra-time.
Navua tried hard looking for the equaliser only to be denied by the excellent goalkeeping of veteran Sakeo Taganeca.
The Stallions were $7500 richer while Navua settled for $2500. The losing semi-finalists Tailevu/ Naitasiri and Savusavu pocketed $500 each.
