Stallions ‘General’ Joins Drua

Nadroga first choice halfback Sakiusa Gavidi has joined the Fiji Airways Drua side yesterday.
The former national sevens halfback featured prominently for Nadroga this season during the Skipper Cup and HFC Farebrother Challenge competitions.
“It’s a good feeling to be part of the Drua and finally gearing up for some rugby once again,” Gavidi told SUNsports.
“This is another ball game and the competition tempo has gone up but with the look of things we’re in good hands.”
Gavidi said at times he often wondered why he was not called to join the squad.
“Now it has happened and I will try to ensure that we will achieve our goals.”
The Volivoli native plays for Nukucagina in the Nadroga club competition. He was a member of the Fijian Under-20 side to the 2012 World Championship. Gavidi also played for the national sevens team under coach, Alivereti Dere when they won the 2013 Hong Kong 7s tournament.
Drua head coach Senirusi Seruvakula said this was a notable inclusion since first-choice halfback Serupepeli Vularika’s spot has been vacant.
“Vularika injured his hand and is ruled out of the season. He will be back next year. The only inclusion is Gavidi while the rest of the guys are part of the extended squad.”
The John Stewart skippered side are looking forward to playing at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Saturday
“We’re excited playing in Lautoka, another game in Fiji and it will be one of the toughest games in the competition as we’re playing against Queensland Country.”
Seruvakula said this would also be the final game for Joeli Veitayaki, Mosese Ducivaki, Mosese Voka, Frank Lomani and Alivereti Veitokani as they will join the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians for the Europe tour.
“It’s disappointing but it’s a pathway from the Drua into the Flying Fijians.” The match kicks-off at 2pm.
