Labasa School fora Special Education Diwali Celebration

Students of Labasa School for Special Education (LSSE) had an equal opportunity like any other school in Labasa to celebrate Diwali on Wednesday.
The teachers took time to play firecrackers and light candles with the students of the only special school in Labasa.
Labasa School for Special Education head teacher Mukesh Chand said since the time he had been in the school he had always made sure that Diwali celebration was commemorated.
“We had invited donors such as Nagigi Mandir committee, Auto Cool Air Conditioning, Dutts Driving School and Labasa special sports club members to be part of Diwali celebration in the school,” Mr Chand said.
“We make sure that the celebration is safe for the students especially in lighting candles and firecrackers for them.
“It is good to see that the excitement on the students faces as they enjoy playing with firecrackers and lighting of candles,” he said.
Nilima Singh, a Canadian resident, who was currently visiting her friend at the school was caught by surprise when the school was having their celebration.
“It is a privilege for me to be part of the celebration and such an amazing day to witness these students celebrating Diwali,” Mrs Singh said.
Luse Dinavoca, parent of Litea Vuki said being part of the celebration was exciting.
“Even though I am a Christian, Diwali is also observed by us because it brings everyone together,” Mrs Dinavoca said.
The celebration ended with the distribution of juice and sweets.
