OSEA BOLA, SUVA

John Stewart says the Fiji Airways Drua needs to take the sting out of the Sydney Rays at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on Saturday.

The hardworking skipper said the Rays will come out firing after upsetting the Australia National Rugby Championship defending champions Perth Spirit 44-31 last weekend.

“They will definitely come out firing on Saturday after beating the Perth Spirit over the weekend,”Stewart said.

“We can’t afford to let our guards down. The Rays will aim to finish on a high and we need to be at our best.”

The 3rd placed Senirusi Seruvakula-coached side, currently on 21 points, will need to beat the Rays to solidify their place in the semifinals.

The game kicks off at 6.30pm on Saturday.

Despite six players who have joined the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians, Stewart said they have depth in the squad to provide cover.

“We have a pool of players some of whom are keen to make the team.  We trained together right from the start and they know what’s required for this team.”

New South Wales Country is ticking all the boxes they needed to in order to finish the weekend in fourth spot on the ladder.

The Eagles’ seven-tries-to-three, 47-19 bonus point win over Melbourne Rising sees them leapfrog Brisbane City and Perth Spirit.

NSW Country host Brisbane City in Orange on Saturday, a match which will go a long way toward deciding which of the two teams qualifies for the NRC finals.
