There are 527 millionaires in Fiji.

These are High Wealth Individuals worth more than a million dollars.

This was confirmed by Chief Executive Officer of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service Visvanath Das.

334 of these individuals are business owners and the other 193 are being analysed by their annual salaries.

Mr Das said these are the declared incomes that are being recorded with FRCS.

And it could be much higher if incomes are declared fully.

Mr Das is urging the public to please come on board and comply.

“Should you not, there are heavy penalties that will follow.

“Better comply and save money,” said Mr Das.

Complience Improvement Strategy (CIS) 2017 -2018.

Mr Das  said they have the construction industries on their raider. Due to the many construction rehab works happening in Fiji, he said that it is important to look at if they are declaring the income fully.

As we all know, there’s shortage of contractors in the country, so we are looking at the number of construction projects that are happening and the industry is booming.

He said that the income declaration record and analysis for the construction industries are not good.

He urged them to please comply and be honest with their businesses.

Customs Declaration Form

FRSC is also working on translating the Customs Declaration Form into Chinese.

Mr Das said this was certainly due to communication barriers.

He said that recently there has been currency seizures at the airport due to the incorrect declaration of money and items brought into the country.

“With the Chinese flights is probably because they don’t understand English.”

He said that he would love to get this done very soon but they are still waiting for the approval for relevant authorities
