Power Disruption In The Central Division Due To FEA Maintenance Works

The Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) wishes to advise its valued customers that as part of the Monasavu Hydro Electric Power Scheme Half Life Refurbishment works, the FEA will be carrying out replacement of 132,000V Isolators and Earth Switches, as well as repair and maintenance work on the 132kV/33kV Power Transformers at the Cunningham Road Zone Substation in Suva.

This work will be undertaken in two sessions over this weekend from 10:00pm on Friday 27th October, 2017 to 7:00am on Saturday 28th October, 2017, and from 3:00am to 6:00pm on Sunday 29th October, 2017.

As a consequence of this work the 132,000 volts transmission line from the Wailoa Hydro Electric Power Station to Cunningham Road Zone Substation will be switched off.

This will mean that during this period FEA will rely solely on our Diesel Power Stations at Korovou, Kinoya, Rokobili & Deuba to supply electricity to our Central Division Customers from Matanipusi (Serua) to Balekinaga, Tailevu including areas of Deuba, Navua, Suva, Nausori & Korovou.

The available diesel generation capacity in the Central Division is insufficient to meet the power demand of all our Customers in the Central Division, and FEA has sought the assistance of major customers to assist by operating their standby generation sets during the outage period to meet the shortfall in generation capacity.

Customers in the Central Division may experience power supply outages during the above times in the event of a failure of any one of our diesel generating sets or due to unrelated power line faults. FEA will do its utmost to ensure that these power interruptions are kept to a minimum.

ALL QUERIES CAN BE DIRECTED TO 132 333.

For emergencies ONLY, call 913.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EXERCISE WILL BE CARRIED OUT SUBJECT TO FAVOURABLE WEATHER CONDITONS. IN THE EVENT THE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE UNFAVOURABLE, THEN THIS EXERCISE WILL BE POSTPONED AND OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS WILL BE INFORMED ACCORDINGLY.

FEA apologizes for any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of this planned exercise and seeks the cooperation and understanding of all our valued customers.
