Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA) is opening its restaurant at 10am today. It is called ‘Sautu Restaurant’ and is located at the AMA warehouse in Nausori.

Executive chairman Setareki Tale said the $50,000 investment was part of the service they normally provide to Fijians.

AMA has been responsible for buying produce from local communities and opening a restaurant was part of an effort to ensure that there was maximum utilisation of resources that are produced by the rural communities that AMA buys from, he says.

They were basically targeting the population within Nausori area that takes delight in local produce.

“We have not established this restaurant to undercut the existing operators, of course we support them,”said Mr Tale.

“This restaurant is basically to complement the services that are provided by the restaurant owners at Nausori.”

Mr Tale said that they would be able to recover the total investment and installation cost very soon.

Meanwhile, a promotion lunch was organised by AMA yesterday to market their local dishes before it opens to the public today.

Guests including government officials, executives and provincial council members were part of it.

Opening hours:

Monday to Friday : 10am to 3.30pm
