Central College Lautoka Prize-giving: Top Duo Deo, Lal Eye Future In Medicine

Two final year students from Central College Lautoka will now turn their focus to medical careers after clinching the top awards during the college prize-giving ceremony at the Sugar Cane Growers Hall in Lautoka on Thursday.
Head Boy Vilesh Kapil Deo, who walked away with the Principal’s Excellence Award, and Dux Roshil Rohitesh Lal are looking to enter medical school and pursue degrees in medicine and surgery next year.
Deo also scooped the best overall Chemistry student award and he was recognised for his leadership as college Head Boy.
“I have studied Biology, Chemistry and Physics together with Mathematics and English and I wish to study MBBS because I have always had an interest in the medical field,” Deo said.
“I was not expecting this award but I have been working hard throughout the year trying to balance my school work and carrying out my duties as the head boy of the school.”
Lal was pleased with his dux award.
“I have been working hard as well and plan to study medicine and help the grassroots people in our country,” he said.
Lal was also awarded best overall student in English and Biology.
“I will work hard during my tertiary studies and make my school and family proud,” Lal said.
