The Republic of Fiji Military Forces Band held a successful fundraising event on Friday night to help nance the much-anticipated Military Tattoo to celebrate its 100 years on December 8.

The organising committee held a fundraising dinner at the So tel Resort and Spa on Denarau Island.

Committee chairperson Com- mander (Navy) Lepani Vaniqi said: “Preparations have been going well, we sent our band to Scotland in Edinburgh for a military tattoo, but this is the rst time that we will be having it here in Fiji and we are very excited about that.”

He said the band will be concluding their tour and will visit Suva on November 15 before the Military Tattoo at the ANZ Stadium. The event will also feature overseas military bands which the committee is yet to confirm.

On the back of its fundraising and other invitations, the band will continue visiting the under- privileged sector as it completes its tour in the major centres of the country.

Commander (Navy) Vaniqi said: “The band has made it their mission to make special appearances in special schools, orphanages and old people’s homes in Labasa, Lautoka, Nadi and Suva next week,”

“In celebrating the RFMF band centennial anniversary this year, the Commander of the RFMF decided that the band visit the major centres in the country and celebrate with the citizens of our be- loved nation,” Commander (Navy) Vaniqi said.
