Ibrahima Soru Youla, 29, of Guinea, West Africa, was a proud man yesterday after Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama stopped for a selfie with him.

The executive director of the non-government organisation PRONG said he also discussed about the National Youth Camp event his organisation had organised in Guinea, which was endorsed by the COP23 President.

“Mr Bainimarama continues to present some results from their activities in Guinea on Youth rules in climate transition, especially his participation at the COY13 and closed off our discussion with a selfie,” he said.

“I was very excited to meet the COP23 President.”

The youth activist plans to visit Fiji in December on behalf of his organisation.

Mr Bainimarama told him: “I am happy to meet you in Bonn and I think you will continue to involve the young people from your country and the world in climate transition.”

On the COY13 Facebook page, organisers posted: “The 13th Conference of Youth has ended, but the ‘Bula Spirit’ lives on and we will carry it into the negotiations of COP23, to our local communities and to our friends and families. “Talanoa Mada – Youth Accelerating Climate Action!” – this is what we will continue fighting for!”
