Jale Vatubua is likely to make the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians team against Italy in Catania on Sunday.

Coach John McKee, who will name the test team today, is impressed with the progress so far of the hard running centre since his debut against the Wallabies in June.

“Jale was excellent for us throughout the June- July test internationals,”McKee said,

“We need him to continue that good form during this campaign.

“He is a strong player week in week out at his club Pau in France and I am looking for him to continue this for the Flying Fijians.

“He has formed a good combination with former All Blacks Colin Slade and Conrad Smith at Pau.”

The team had their last training run yesterday.

“Our preparation is progressing well.

“Our final training session is important as we execute our plays under pressure (speed) and lock down our team combinations.

“Weather has been fine here around 20 degrees. Forecast is for this to continue through to the weekend. All the players are fit and ready to go.”

McKee is also impressed with the performance of the six local players who joined the team after the eighth round of the Australia National Rugby Championship.

“I can see the benefit of the NRC campaign for the Fiji based players.

“They have come into November camp with very good levels of fitness and good game plan, understanding as the Fiji Airways Fijiana Drua played with similar shape and systems to the Flying Fijians.”
