Ratu Kadavulevu School Under-18 captain scooped the school’s Excellence Award.

Taniela Yabakidrau, 18, of Naqali Village in Naitasiri, walked away with one of the top awards during the RKS prizegiving ceremony in Lodoni, Tailevu yesterday.

His mother, Litiana Soqonawasaloa, said she was very proud to see her only son of three children receive the award.

“I was very happy to hear my son receive the Excellence Award. He has become the first in the family to receive such a great award,” Ms Soqonawasaloa said.

“He has set an example for my two younger daughters to aim higher and be a brighter student.

“I know this is my son’s first achievement and I know he will do much better in the future.

“He has proven us that we did not fail as parents and neither did he fail as our eldest and only son in the family.”

The dream team captain and national Under-18 national representative now looks forward to pursuing a rugby career.

RKS made history in the Coke Zero Deans when all the streams, that is, from Under 14 to Under 19, won all categories this year.

The Under-18 took the main Coke Zero Deans trophy.
