Over 900 students battled it out in the first day of the FMF Chow Games at Subrail Park, Labasa yesterday. FMF Northern Chow Games president Sisilia Cokanauto said nine schools from the provinces of Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata participated.

By last night, officials refused to release any results and the medal tally but indicated that it was very close.

“The medal tally will be revealed tomorrow morning as of this hour, I cannot divulge any other information,” she said.

Cokanauto said the Chow Games brings everyone together and encourages active participation amongst children.

“Children get the friendly vibe of the games at the same time showcasing their talents,” she said.

“They learn to compete in good spirits which not only portray good sportsmanship but good citizenship as well.”

Cokanauto urged the people of Labasa to turn-up today and support the students. Tickets are on sale at the gate.
