Seaqaqa edged Macuata North in the dying stages of the 2017 Northern FMF Chow Games to win the overall medal tally at Subrail Park, Labasa yesterday.

Macuata North led throughout the second day but failed to hold off a fiery Seaqaqa to pip them by two gold medals.

Despite coming in second in both the girls’ and boys’ divisions to Macuata North and Labasa Two respectively, their total gold medal count saw to them snatching the overall title away from defending champions Labasa One  who finished 4th on the overall medal tally.

Seaqaqa finished their 2017 campaign with 16 gold, 7 silver and 9 bronze medals while Macuata North came in second  with 14 gold, 15 silver and 10 bronze medals. Labasa  Two finished third with 13 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze medals.

Meanwhile, three records were broken in the two-day event.

Lepania Lewarogo of Macuata North set a new record in the Under-11 girls’ long jump with a leap of 4.10metres. Melaia Iva of Macuata North broke the U12 girls 200m record with a time of 26.16seconds.

Seaqaqa’s U11 girls’ 4x100m relay set a new games record in the heats when they clocked 1:00.08minutes
